Context

HGK Shipping, a leading inland shipping and logistics company, wanted to actively shape its future understanding of leadership while developing its emerging leaders in a targeted way. Instead of pure training, a program emerged that combines three objectives: strengthening individual leadership skills, jointly developing a desired leadership culture, and making high-potentials visible.

Task

PUETTGEN Consulting designed and delivered the modular program. Participants, selected through an application process – with motivation letters and videos – worked on their leadership role and self-leadership, explored other companies as “Culture Scouts,” and developed the company’s own leadership values and target behaviors in a values workshop.

Approach

The design interlinked individual leadership development and joint culture work: personality diagnostics, self-leadership, and individual coaching on the one hand; a values workshop, outside-in learning, and a shared Leaders Forum on the other – strengths- and reflection-oriented, with company management as a visible sponsor.

Formats

“Leadership Culture Challenge” with networking and diagnostics; “Leadership Focus Training” on the leadership role and self-leadership; a Learning Journey as “Culture Scouts”; a values workshop; hands-on and transfer formats such as a “Pit Stop” on putting leadership values into practice and a leadership workshop; accompanying individual coaching sessions.

Role

PUETTGEN Consulting was responsible for the conception and delivery of the entire program – with two senior trainers per module, the diagnostics, accompanying individual coaching, and the facilitation of the values, hands-on, and transfer formats.

Transfer

The leadership values developed were put into concrete practice in hands-on formats – “Pit Stop” and leadership workshop; accompanying individual coaching sessions deepened individual development.

Combines people development, organizational development, and leadership culture in a single program – driven by application-based participation and a visible sponsorship by senior leadership.
